Gov. Tim Walz ended the state’s mask mandate today after federal health officials recommended that fully vaccinated people don’t need to wear masks in most situations.
Minnesota health officials will still encourage mask wearing among those who are not fully vaccinated, but that guidance will not have the legal force of a mandate.
For Sunny Hollow Montessori, I will keep in place the COVID-19 policies and procedures that have helped us to be safe and so successful so far this year. We will have discussions at our end of year staff meetings about what our best course of action will be for the summer and for the 2021-22 school year. I am so grateful to every family that has been so conscientious, careful, and respectful throughout this school year.

The 7th graders left this morning for their trip to Wild River State Park, where they will do some geocaching, hiking, reflecting on this year and planning for next, and enjoying a campfire, food they prepare together, and sleeping under the stars!

In addition, you’ll get to get to know the Guides better, hear from Henry and Mary Irey, see the children dancing, and hear from our first junior high graduating class! I wanted to provide some information regarding end of year recognitions for Casa leaders, 6th years, and eighth graders. You will receive information from your child’s guide about the specifics.
In honor of the children who have fulfilled the Sunny Hollow Casa Level Program, there will be a special “video” view into the classroom and each child being recognized will create a personalized keepsake book. Casa Guides will be contacting the classroom’s families directly to share these within each individual community.
The 6th years will have their recognition onsite on June 8th at 4:00pm. The very first Sunny Hollow Montessori Junior High graduation will be held on June 9th at 5:00pm on campus. Details will be forthcoming!
