UEN Update

Dear Families,
I hope that you all had a lovely weekend and were able to celebrate the mothers in your lives. I appreciate you and know the students do as well. While school is rapidly wrapping up, the classroom is really kicking it into another gear in terms of work, projects, and focus. With Katie and I back in the classroom along with all the students, UEN is coalescing nicely as a community, with students working with a variety of peers, sorting out challenges and conflicts, and generally looking out for each other. Rather than slowing down, the work in the classroom is actually picking up. The positive energy is infectious and spreading easily. Rather than write a lot, I think it is nice to see pictures of what has been going on and your student can explain.
In addition, I wanted to touch base about food and drinks at school. Understandably, the students are almost always hungry and thirsty. As upper elementary children, that is simply how they are since they burn so many calories throughout the day. In light of their nutritional needs as children, as you support them in packing their own lunches, please make sure that they are leaving most sweet treats at home and focusing on wholesome protein, carbohydrates, fruits, and vegetables. Please make sure that they are not bringing sugar drinks, cupcakes, candy, or coffee drinks to school. At the same time, please make sure that they have a water bottle at school and are eating a solid breakfast before leaving for school.
I hope that you have a lovely week. Please reach out with any questions.
Kindly,
Carl
