A class outside the ordinary

Every classroom, program and curriculum at Sunny Hollow Montessori is intentionally created to support the unique educational, emotional and developmental needs of every student.

All that care and detail can be seen in the little ways our classroom communities operate, and fully realized in the big, impactful ways our students find confidence and success. See our programs (by Montessori age ranges) here.

True! At Sunny Hollow, students learn in multi-age classrooms: Toddler (16–33 months), Casa (Preschool–Kindergarten), Lower Elementary (Grades 1-3), Upper Elementary (Grades 4–6), and Junior High (Grades 7–8). Younger students learn from older peers, and older students strengthen their understanding by mentoring others.
Montessori education recognizes that learning isn’t linear—it’s developmental. Multi-age classrooms honor each child’s pace and potential, allowing them to move ahead when ready and revisit concepts when needed. It’s education designed for human growth, not just grade progression.

Maria Montessori observed that children move through distinct “planes of development.”

  • 0–6 years: The absorbent mind—busy hands, eager curiosity.
  • 6–12 years: The reasoning mind—asking “why” and seeking connection.
  • 12–14 years: The social mind—discovering identity, fairness, and purpose.

Our programs are designed around these natural stages, meeting each child right where they are.

At Sunny Hollow Montessori, we believe children deserve to first master the most important technology they’ll ever use — their own minds. Before using a computer to think, they must learn how to think. Before navigating the digital world, they must know who they are in the real one.
Our Toddler Montessori Community offers a safe, calm space for your child to explore independence. With respectful guidance, toddlers are supported and trusted with real responsibilities—zipping coats, choosing work, and caring for their environment. All on their own, but never alone.
In our Montessori preschool program, your child will learn through hands-on exploration, purposeful work, and joyful independence. The Montessori approach meets them where they are—encouraging curiosity, self-confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Kindergarten at Sunny Hollow is uniquely empowering. As the oldest in their classrooms, students serve as leaders and role models—helping younger peers, guiding routines, and modeling focus. This early experience with leadership and empathy is a purpose-planting moment in a child’s life.
In our Elementary programs, students enjoy uninterrupted three-hour work cycles that allow for deep focus and discovery. It’s not about rushing kids ahead—it’s about helping them grow into capable, compassionate people. Unrushed. Uninterrupted. Unmatched.
These years are full of teamwork, big projects, and real-world problem-solving. Students develop the ability to manage time, navigate differences, and take responsibility for their ideas—skills that shape both intellect and empathy.
During adolescence, students are asking: Who am I? Where do I fit? What can I contribute? Our Junior High program is designed for that very moment—hands-on, discussion-based, and community-driven. Students connect learning to real life and begin discovering their place in the world.
