Materials Fee: $30
Includes the book Positive Discipline by Jane Nelson, a workbook, and parenting tool cards.

Goals:

  • Learn how to help children develop self-discipline, responsibility, problem-solving skills, and self-esteem.
  • Understand the reasons why children misbehave
  • Learn specific methods to help solve the problems that arise with children, such as hassles over chores and bedtime, fighting between siblings, talking back, and getting to school on time without nagging
  • Develop community and support with other Sunny Hollow parents

Ages of children:

  • The Positive Discipline approach is most geared to families of 3 to 14 year olds.
  • Families of toddlers are welcome as well, but will find the approach more useful for ages 3+.

Format:

  • 8 to 12 Sunny Hollow parents, with Jenny Thompson as facilitator, will meet each week.
  • Preparation includes reading 1 to 2 chapters from the book and practicing the parenting techniques we are learning.
  • We will use exercises, problem-solving techniques, and discussion questions to work through the principles of the book and meet the goals of the group.

No childcare is offered (sorry!).
