Jessica Barman is joining Sunny Hollow Montessori as Inclusion Coordinator. Jessica is passionate about Montessori education and comes to Sunny Hollow from Great River School, where she was a Special Education Guide for 6 years. Previous to Great River, Jessica taught elementary and middle school. Jessica has a Master’s degree in Inclusive Education/Teaching and continuing education in Educational Psychology. She is licensed in the state of Minnesota in 1-6 Elementary Education, K-12 Learning Disabilities, 5-8 Science, and as a K-12 Academic and Behavioral Strategist. Jessica is also already a Sunny Hollow parent!
Besides working at another Montessori school for the past six years, Jessica has also been a resident of Minnesota for as long, living just across the river in the Longfellow neighborhood. Jessica’s family enjoys camping, gardening, cooking, reading, biking, and being silly together. She moved here from Fort Collins, Colorado and prior to that was a long-time resident of Madison, Wisconsin.
In her role at Sunny Hollow, Jessica will partner with classrooms to ensure that children who have supplemental needs are able to access the rich Montessori curriculum; she will work directly with students in the areas of literacy and math. She will also guide the special education referral process at Sunny Hollow, and coordinate with Saint Paul Public Schools around services and supports for children who have Individualized Education Plans.
